Easy Pork Chop Recipe

Pork chops can make a great meal any time of the year. Because of the wonderful flavor of pork chops, you don't need a complicated recipe to make them absolutely fantastic.

One of my favorite pork chop recipes that I make the most often only uses about 2-3 ingredients. None are hard to find, as long as you shop at a large grocery store. Some of the smaller, home town stores may not have one or two of these ingredients.

Pork Chops in White Wine

Ingredients:

4 Pork Chops

Fennel Seeds

White Wine

Garlic Salt (optional)

Directions:

Add a good layer of white wine to the pan. Add pork chops and sprinkle with fennel seeds. Cook on Medium heat for about 5-10 minutes or until brown. Flip to cook other side and cook additional 5-10 minutes. Repeat with additional chops.

There are other variations of this recipe that include adding the optional garlic salt or mushrooms to the chops. Usually I add garlic salt for extra flavor, but this completely optional. Sometimes I'll even add cream of mushroom soup for an extra tasty meal.

You can always get creative with your pork chop recipes, or use ones with multiple ingredients. Although some of the best recipes you will find are often the most simple.

Where to Eat in Barbados - 5 Recommendations

If you're a food lover then Barbados is the place for you. Possibly the only place in the world that doesn't have a McDonalds, it does instead have something for just about every taste and budget. From the kid friendly fast food chain Chefette to award winning restaurants such as The Cliff, and L'Azure, the cliff-top restaurant overlooking the magnificent Crane Beach.

The following are 5 personal recommendations for where to eat in Barbados:

Oistins

For a real taste of Barbados head to Oistins, a fishing village on the south coast. Home to the weekly Friday Night Fish Fry, people from all across the island, together with tourists from all around the world, gather to eat, drink, dance, and party. Stop at any of the numerous stalls serving flying fish, rice, macaroni, and plantain, then find a table to enjoy this local specialty. Wash it down with a couple of Banks beers it is a meal to match the finest anywhere.

For breakfast or a light snack visit the Bean n' Bagel in St. Lawrence Gap for breakfast, and while sitting on the terrace overlooking the Caribbean we eat a hearty breakfast of orange juice, omelets, fresh baked bagels, and gourmet coffee. I could happily sit here all morning and just watch the world go by

The Bean-n-Bagel Cafe (St. Lawrence Gap)

The Bean-n-Bagel Cafe is my favorite place for breakfast in Barbados. The original, located in St. Lawrence Gap, is also an Internet Cafe, so if you really can't leave the office behind, or you just want to check in with family back home you can be in touch with the world while eating a fresh baked bagel, pastry or full breakfast of omelets and smoked salmon and a hot or iced coffee while relaxing in the morning sun.

They also serve sandwiches, vegetarian dishes, chicken Alfredo, pasta, crab salad, and pizza. Or if something sweet is more to your taste don't miss the Tortuga Rum Cake, or my personal favourite, and I always get one to go home with, Mount Gay Great Cake.

The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere relaxed, the service friendly, the locations great, the food is good, and if surfing in the ocean is too strenuous you can surf the Internet! Two newer locations have also been opened, one in the West Coast Mall in Holetown, and the other overlooking the Careenage in Bridgetown.

Pisces Restaurant

For a romantic dinner on the edge of St. Lawrence Bay, Pisces in St. Lawrence Gap is a must. Enter through a grove of lush tropical foliage to a table overlooking the water. This most romantic restaurant is considered one of the finest on the island and one taste of the seafood linguine soon will tell you it is a well-deserved reputation.

Pisces is only open for dinner from 6pm, and is not inexpensive. Prices for starters are $14 - $25, and mains from $38 - $74. But for a special night out this is one restaurant not to be missed. Dress, as in most Bajan restaurants, is elegantly casual, and reservations are recommended.

Naniki

One of the most unique restaurants in Barbados set in the rolling hills of St. Joseph. The natural beauty of the landscape that lies just beyond its glass walls creates the ambience of the restaurant. An outdoor porch allows you to enjoy the views of the surrounding hills while enjoying a refreshing breeze along with your meal. The menu includes a selection of staples from the Caribbean, such as yam, sweet potato and breadfruit, together with the famous Bajan corn meal cou cou.

For lunch try seared flying fish, grilled dorado, stewed lambi (conch), curried chicken, or jerk chicken or pork. For dinner, grilled snapper, local black-belly lamb, seared shrimp, and pork loin are specialties. On Sundays, they serve 'a taste of the Caribbean' buffet with all the fixin's.

Tides

On the west coast make reservations at Tides. This unique restaurant features an art gallery on the main floor featuring some of the best local artists and dining on both the main floor and the second floor. Ask for a table upstairs overlooking the Caribbean. There are so many great choices on the menu it's difficult to decide what to eat. But try the Jamaican jerk chicken wrapped in Parma ham with pesto mash, leek and Calvados cream with caramelized apples, and seared local tuna with Wasabi sauce served on warm ginger, sesame and egg noodle salad and vegetable spring rolls, accompanied with a 2005 Petit Chablis. You won't be disappointed.

Rum Shops

I know I said 5 Places To Eat in Barbados but there are reputed to be anywhere between 500 and 1500 Rum Shops in Barbados and no visit is complete without stopping in at least one. If you want a real Bajan experience you have to pay at least one visit to a rum shop. Rum shops are actually small bars found in every village and are social centers where residents gather to discuss politics, play dominoes, catch up on the latest news, gossip and... drink rum. The shops also act as grocery stores and are a good place to grab a snack, particularly cutters. Cutters are the Bajan equivalent of sandwiches, a round bun generously stacked with cheese, ham, fish or whatever else you may choose.

Balearic Recipe - Stuffed Leg of Lamb

A stuffed leg of lamb might not sound like typical Ibiza food, but this is a very popular dish on the Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Menorca, Eivissa, and Formentera, where it is known as cuixa de molto farcida. It's a dish best reserved for a big gathering of family and friends as one deboned leg of lamb is just the starting point. In addition to that you will want to have minced pork (100 grams), sobrassada (40 grams), potatoes (around eight small potatoes should do), white wine (one glass), pine nuts (a handful), garlic (a couple of cloves), lard (one spoonful), fennel (a handful), one laurel leaf, thyme, marjoram, nutmeg, salt and pepper.

Cooking this array of herbs, meats and vegetables relies on opening up the leg of lamb and then packing inside the garlic, pine nuts, salt, pepper and mince. You then tie up your package in string and baste it in a generous amount of lard, which not only cooks it, but also adds tremendously to the flavor. You will then add onions, potatoes and garlic, and place it around your wrapped package, which then has strips of bacon on top of it before popping it all in the over to roast at 200 degrees for an hour. The parsley is sprinkled on top just before serving.

This type of meat dish is typical of the islands, and it is common to add the glass of white wine, herbs and laurel leaf to the dish before starting the roasting process. It is indeed a delicious dish.

Boneless Pork Recipes - Try These Fabulous Pork Recipes

Boneless pork is becoming more and more popular as a great alternative to chicken and red meat. Most boneless pork recipes deal with either pork chops, tenderloin or center cut roast. All three cuts are very low in fat and taste great. One of my favorite recipes is onion and celery slow cooked pork chops.

Ingredients:

1 pound quarter inch cut boneless pork chops
1 can cream of celery soup
1 can onion soup
1 cup sliced button mushrooms
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper

This is a simple dish and very easy to fix. Your family will love it. Place the pork chops in a glass dish. Sprinkle the salt and pepper over the meat. Pour in the cream of celery soup and the onion soup. Top the dish with the sliced button mushrooms. Place the dish in a preheated 350 degree oven and cook for 35 minutes. When done the meat should fall apart with slight pressure. Serve this dish with either mashed potatoes or white rice. The soups make a nice sauce to complement the rice or potatoes.

An excellent variation of the dish is to use a cream of mushroom soup instead of the onion soup. You can also slice potatoes and line the bottom of the glass dish. The grease and juices from the pork chops will give the potatoes a wonderful flavor. I hope you try this recipe and it becomes a regular favorite at your home.

Pork is a great alternative to red meat and chicken, and is very good for you.

Tropical Grilled Pork Chops

BBQ INGREDIENTS
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 pod cardamom seeds
1/2 teaspoon water, or as needed
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1 mango - peeled, seeded and chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cilantro
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 fresh jalapeno pepper, minced
1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
3 pineapple rings, chopped
1 pinch white pepper
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
6 pork chops

DIRECTIONS
With a mortar and pestle, mash together the garlic, chili powder, cayenne, and cardamom seeds. Mix in enough water to form a paste.

Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in spice paste, and cook until it begins to bubble, about 30 seconds. Stir in vinegar; cook without boiling for 2 minutes. Stir in sugar until it dissolves. Mix in mango, salt, cilantro, lemon juice, and jalapeno; simmer 20 minutes. Stir in applesauce and pineapple; simmer 10 minutes more. Season with white pepper. Place in a bowl, cover, and refrigerate until ready to use.

To prepare marinade, mix 2/3 cup of the salsa with soy sauce and 1/3 cup vinegar. Place pork chops in a large resealable plastic bag, and pour marinade over chops. Seal tightly, and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Prepare grill for medium-high heat. Drain marinade from bag, and heat in a saucepan until boiling.
Lightly oil grill grate. Place pork chops on the hot grill. Cook 10 minutes, or to desired doneness, turning once and basting occasionally with the boiled marinade.

Warm remaining salsa over medium-low heat. Serve pork chops topped with the salsa.

Easy Vegetarian Recipe With Rice

If you're a vegetarian chances are that you eat a lot of pasta and even more rice. However, if you're like most people, you know a handful of decent recipes that you are slowly getting sick of. If you're looking for an easy vegetarian recipe, you are probably looking for something a bit different.

One great easy vegetarian recipe is vegetable fried rice. Cook some brown rice according to the directions on its package. Once it's cooked, drain the rice and set it aside. Then, take heat a little bit of vegetable oil in a large skillet and add beaten eggs. Cover and cook until the eggs are set on top. Then, flip the eggs over and cook a little bit longer until you have a flat egg pancake. Slide the pancake off of the skillet and onto a cutting board. When it's cool enough to touch, slice the eggs into small strips. Heat a little bit more vegetable oil in the skillet and add a bag of thawed mixed vegetables of your choice. Stir-fry the vegetables until they are starting to get tender but are still crisp. Then, add the cooked rice and some chopped scallions. Stir in some soy sauce to add some additional flavor, and cook for a few more minutes. Stir in the eggs and serve hot. If you want to make this a more filling dish, add some sliced tomatoes, peppers, and peas to the rice, along with some small pieces of sautéed tofu.

Another great easy vegetarian recipe you make with rice is vegetarian jambalaya. While traditional jambalaya is loaded with shellfish and pork, you can create a vegetarian version that is easy to make and is very tasty. In a Dutch oven, sauté chopped onions, peppers, and scallions in a little bit of butter until soft. Then, add some minced garlic along with parsley, oregano, thyme, bay leaves, and cayenne pepper, and let sauté a bit longer until the spices are fragrant. Then add some uncooked white rice, chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, water, uncooked lentils, and salt to the pan and bring to a boil. Stir until the tomato paste is mixed, and then cover, reduce heat, and let everything simmer for about half an hour while you go do something else. Finally, add some fresh corn and pitted olives, and cook a few until the lentils and rice are soft. Serve immediately with freshly ground pepper for a meal that is filling and, even better, is completely vegetarian.

A third wonderful choice when you are looking for an easy vegetarian recipe is stuffed peppers. In a pot, heat some oil or butter and sauté chopped onion and garlic until soft. Add slices of mushrooms, carrots, and cherry tomatoes, and stir together. Add uncooked rice to the pot along with some vegetable broth and water. Bring to a boil, and then cover, reduce heat to a simmer, and cook until the rice has absorbed all the liquid. In the meantime, cut the tops off of some bell peppers and set aside. Clean out the inside of the peppers and place the empty peppers in small baking dish. Once the rice has fully absorbed the liquid, stir in some mozzarella cheese, fresh basil and season with salt and pepper. Spoon the mixture into the peppers and replace the tops. Bake until the peppers are hot all the way through. If the peppers start to dry out, add a little water or vegetable broth to the bottom of the baking pan while the peppers are cooking.

It's Grilling Time!

Warm weather signals one thing to me - it's grilling time! Time to fire up that grill and get cooking.

Of course hamburgers and steaks taste great on the grill just as they are. But when you want to serve up something that is just a bit different we have some suggestions.

First of all Grilled Texas Beef Steak, grilled steak with a bit of pizazz. A mix of cumin, chili powder, cayenne and garlic pack a punch.

Asian Grilled Pork Tenderloin is an original recipe that combines flavorful Asian seasonings with the fruitiness of orange juice. A nice mix.

Barbecued Peach Pork Chops combines pork with fruit, always a good combination, and tops it off with a delicious savory sauce.

Any of these delicious meat recipes is sure to get your next barbecue of to a good start!

Grilled Texas Beef Steaks

1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
4 slices eye of round, about 1 inch thick

Preheat barbecue and grease grill.

Blend seasonings in a small bowl. Sprinkle both sides of meat with seasonings, then gently press into meat. Place meat on barbecue and grill for 4 minutes per side for medium-rare meat.

Steaks are great with baked potatoes, which can be done on the grill as well. Simply follow these easy directions:

Wrap the potatoes in foil and put them on a cooler part of the grill so they won't burn. Check them after about 30 minutes. Total cooking time depends on the size and can be as much as 45 minutes to 1 hour. They are done when they are soft right through to the inside.

Asian Grilled Pork Tenderloin

2 pork tenderloins

Marinade:
3 tablespoons orange juice concentrate
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1" piece of ginger, peeled and sliced
3 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced

Place the pork tenderloins in a large plastic zip lock bag. Combine the marinade ingredients and pour over the pork tenderloins. Marinate for 2 to 6 hours.

Grill for about 20 minutes or bake in the oven at 375ºF. Baste often with the marinade.

Slice and serve.

Serves 4-5.

Barbecued Peach Pork Chops

1/4 cup fresh basil or mint, chopped
1/4 cup red pepper jelly, melted
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon grainy mustard
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
pinch pepper
2 firm ripe peaches, unpeeled and sliced
4 thick bone in pork chops

Mix basil, red pepper jelly, vinegar, mustard, garlic, salt and pepper in a bowl. In a separate bowl, toss peaches with 2 tablespoons of the jelly mixture. Add the pork chops to the remaining mixture. Turn to coat and let stand for 20 minutes to marinate.

Place the pork chops and peaches on a greased grill over medium high heat. Close the lid and grill, turning halfway through, until peaches are browned, about 6 minutes. Remove the peaches and keep them warm. Cook chops until there is just a hint of pink inside, about 4 minutes longer.

4 servings

I hope these amazing recipes tempt your taste buds and encourage you to get grilling!

Easy BBQ Ribs Recipe

The summer is a perfect BBQ time across the US. BBQ is a great crowd pleaser and is sure to bring the family together. Here is an easy BBQ ribs recipe and some quick tips to make sure your BBQ experience is safe and fun.

First, to keep things safe:

1. Defrost meat before cooking so you get even cooking and do it in the fridge.

2. Marinate food in the refrigerator and don't reuse the marinade unless you boil it first

3. Do not serve cooked meat in the same plate you had the raw meat (unless you clean it before re-using it)

4. Don't bring out the meat until you are ready to cook to avoid leaving it a prolonged time in hot temperatures before cooking.

Make sure you follow the safety tips and you will have more fun during the summer cookouts. My summer is going great. BBQ's are a big reason for that. One of my favorite dishes is an easy BBQ Ribs recipe. To make great ribs easily we need to follow these tips:

1. Marinade the meat or rub in the seasonings at least 1 hr before cooking more is better but if it's done too long, unless it's a tough cut, you could overpower the meat. Anywhere from one to six hours is good enough.

2. Grill ribs bone side down until the bones start to separate from the meat without turning. This is a key point that helps produce tender ribs.

3. Brush BBQ sauce or any sauce that has sugar only at the tail end of cooking.

4. Allow the ribs to sit for 10 minutes before eating or cutting this helps the meat stay juicy.

5. Use tongs to handle the meat forks will pierce the meat and allow the juices to escape. Piercing the meat reduces the flavor and moisture of the meat.

You can try this tips this weekend or the next time you grill ribs and you will see and taste the difference. In order to do that you need this simple recipe that's great tasting:

6 pounds pork spareribs

1 tblsp red pepper flakes

2 tblsp Adobo or Seasoned Salt

1 tsp fresh ground black pepper ( use less to taste if using adobo)

A barbecue sauce you like

Combine red pepper flakes, Adobo and black pepper. Rub mixture all over ribs; cover ribs and marinate in refrigerator at least 2 hours. Grill ribs over low heat, bone side down until the meat separates from the bone, approximately 1 hour. Apply your favorite barbecue sauce and cook for another 15 to 30 minutes turning the ribs frequently to avoid burning the sauce. Serves 6 to 8.

There you have it an easy BBQ ribs recipe and some tips to make sure you wow your family and guests.

Korean Recipes

In recent years, many people in the West have become interested in Korean foods and recipes. You can try Korean food in a restaurant, or if you prefer you could try to prepare it at home in your own kitchen.

Korean meals are usually based around noodles, rice, meat, vegetables and tofu (which is known as "dubu" in Korea). Most meals are served with a variety of side dishes ("banchane"), as well as soup, steam rice, and kimchi (fermented vegetables). Flavor is added using a range of seasonings and spices including garlic, ginger, red chili paste ("gochujang"), salt, soy sauce, and fermented soybean paste ("doenjang").

Some popular Korean dishes include:

* Kongnamul-guk - Soybean sprout soup.

* Gamjatang - A soup based on pork spine and potatoes. It usually also contains other vegetables, green onions, hot peppers and sesame seeds.

* Maeuntang - A hot and spicy fish soup.

* Jeongol - A seafood and vegetable stew.

* Hoe - Thinly slice rawfish, somewhat similar to Japanese sashimi. Usually dipped in wasabi or red chili paste ("gochujang"), and served on cellophane noodles ("dangmyeon").

* Sannakji - A raw, very fresh small octopus, seasoned and cut into pieces and served - it may still be moving on your plate!

* Ramyeon - Noodles with meat and vegetables, similar to Japanese ramen noodles.

* Kongnamul-bap - Rice with soybean sprouts.

* Japchae - Potato noodles with beef, carrots, onions and spinach.

* Kalguksu - Flat noodles in a broth.

* Yukhoe - Raw beef topped with egg yolk, and seasonedwith garlic, green onions and a variety of spices.

* Bulgogi - Meat or seafood cooked on a grill. Common varieties include chicken ("dak bulgogi"), pork ("dweji bulgogi"), and squid ("ojingeo bulgogi").

* Galbi - Grilled pork ribs.

* Dakgalbi - Grilled chicken.

* Makchang - Grilled pork intestines (similar to chitterlings).

* Samgyeopsal - Grilled pork belly. Slices of meat are placed inside lettuce with cooked rice and a spicy paste ("ssamjang"). Various accompaniments such as chillies, spring onion salad, or raw garlic dipped in ssamjang may be eaten with the dish.
